Lot 252: A Collection of 20th Century Clear Cut and Pressed Glassware
A collection of approximately 20 pieces of 20th-century clear glass and crystal table service. The assortment includes a large circular serving bowl with a central multi-point starburst pattern and a large shallow circular platter featuring molded concentric rings in a stepped design. Also present is a handled water pitcher with a textured molded body and an oil lamp base with an amber-tinted reservoir and metal burner assembly.
The collection further comprises various smaller serving vessels, including teardrop-shaped nut dishes, a leaf-molded dish, and several small bowls with radial fluted and starburst motifs. Decorative glass includes a slender trumpet vase and a flared cylindrical vase. The items exhibit a range of manufacturing techniques from precision cut motifs to mid-century modern molded patterns. The glass varies in quality, with several pieces demonstrating the weight and clarity associated with lead crystal, while others are standard soda-lime pressed glass. No maker marks or factory signatures were identified upon inspection.
Condition report:
The collection is in generally good used condition. The glass retains clarity, though some pieces exhibit minor surface scratches and internal cloudiness consistent with age and domestic use. The oil lamp base shows internal residue and discolouration. Occasional minor rim chips or flea bites may be present.
