Lot 331: A Collection of Commemorative and Decorative Ceramic Plates and Dishes
This collection comprises various porcelain, fine bone china, and earthenware display plates and dishes. The lot includes a 1977 Silver Jubilee commemorative plate featuring transfer-printed portraits of Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh, inscribed 1952 THE QUEEN’S SILVER JUBILEE 1977. Also present is a millennium plate for THE ASSOCIATION OF WATERWAYS CRUISING CLUBS 2000, featuring a pierced border with an interwoven yellow ribbon. Decorative wildlife and scenic plates include transfer-printed depictions of rabbits, dogs, cats, a sepia-toned street scene, and a landscape with a boat. A small blue and white transferware plate is inscribed St Petrus Minor of Braunton. The collection further includes a brightly coloured earthenware dish shaped like a fish, decorated with blue and yellow stripes and orange diamond accents. A quantity of additional plates is included, featuring scenes such as a cottage interior with a figure at a spinning wheel. Decoration techniques include transfer-printing, gilding, and hand-painted or sponge-decorated elements.
Condition report:
The items are in generally good condition with no significant chips, cracks, or visible repairs. There is minor surface wear and light rubbing to the gilded rims consistent with display and handling.
