Lot 456: Two Assorted Lamp Bases comprising a Green Glazed Ceramic Base and a Carved Alabaster Base
An assortment of two lamp bases. The first is a large ceramic lamp base of baluster form, featuring a fluted and domed top section above a tapering neck and a wide bulbous body. The exterior is decorated in relief with a hobnail or bossed texture to the upper shoulder and upright leaf and foliage motifs around the lower section, terminating in a flared and fluted foot. The piece is finished in a deep translucent bottle-green glaze that pools in the recesses of the moulding. It is fitted with a threaded metal rod for lamp assembly. The second is a carved natural stone lamp base, likely alabaster, of classical pedestal or urn form. It features a circular stepped foot, a bulbous central body, and a flared neck. The surface is undecorated, showcasing the natural mottled cream and tan variations of the stone. It is fitted with a threaded metal rod for lamp assembly. The item bears a paper auction label for Liskeard Auction Rooms identifying it as Lot 456. These items consist of the lamp bases and internal mounting rods only and lack wiring, sockets, and plugs.
