Lot 598: Three Vintage Items Comprising a Wooden Pencil Box and Two Lithographed Tins
A collection of three vintage items including a wooden pencil box and two advertising tins. The wooden pencil box is constructed with a sliding lid decorated with a painted floral motif in shades of blue, yellow, and red. The interior base of the box features a circular indentation marked 1/2d, and the compartment contains several assorted pencils. The first tin is a rectangular red lithographed metal container for Turf Virginia Cigarettes, featuring a central winged emblem and brand typography. The second tin is a small cylindrical red lithographed money box with a top slot, decorated with a GR royal cypher beneath a crown, indicating the reign of King George V or VI.
Condition report:
All items exhibit signs of age and significant use. The wooden box shows surface wear, minor abrasions, and staining. Both metal tins show surface scratches, paint loss, and areas of oxidisation. The money box shows heavy wear and fading to the lithographed decoration.
