Lot 602: Swordplay Sheffield Steel Hollow Ground Straight Razor with Original Box
A vintage straight razor manufactured by Swordplay. The blade is constructed from Sheffield steel, forged and hollow ground in Germany. The tang is stamped with the maker mark SWORDPLAY and REGD. The blade face features an etched SWORDPLAY logo. The handle scales are composed of faux-tortoiseshell celluloid and feature an inset logo reading SWORDPLAY REGD. The item is accompanied by its original two-part cardboard packaging. The box lid is printed with SWORDPLAY THE GUARANTEED RAZOR, and the end section is marked Finest Sheffield Steel / Forged and / Hollow Ground in Germany.
Condition report:
The blade shows significant surface oxidation, spotting, and a darkened patina consistent with age. The edge appears free of large nicks but requires professional restoration and honing. The celluloid scales are structurally sound with no visible cracks or signs of celluloid rot, showing only minor surface wear. The original cardboard box is in poor condition, exhibiting heavy wear, edge scuffing, loss of the outer paper finish, and structural weakness.
