Lot 639: Two vintage items comprising a Chinese brass dish and a travel clothes brush with leather case
This lot consists of two mid-20th-century domestic accessories. The first item is a small circular brass dish or coaster featuring a notched scalloped rim. The interior is decorated with an engraved Chinoiserie scene depicting two figures amongst stylized floral and foliage motifs. The base of the dish is incised with the mark CHINA, indicating its origin as an export ware. The second item is a travel clothes brush featuring a polished metal back and natural-coloured bristles. It is housed in a dedicated brown leather travel case with a press-stud fastening and stitched edges.
Condition report:
The brass dish exhibits a natural aged patina with visible surface oxidation and tarnishing, particularly to the reverse. Surface scratches are present, consistent with age and use. The clothes brush remains in good functional condition. The leather case shows signs of age-related wear, including surface scuffing and softening of the leather.
