Lot 644: A Glazed Ceramic Figurine of an Old English Sheepdog
Attributed to Beswick, model number 453, a glazed ceramic figurine of an Old English Sheepdog. The dog is depicted in a standing pose with a textured coat moulded to simulate long fur. The colouration consists of a white ground with a dark grey or black saddle patch and markings to the head, featuring a pink lolling tongue. To the underside of the belly is a printed black mark, which is smudged and illegible, though the form is characteristic of mid-20th-century Staffordshire canine studies.
Condition report:
The figurine is in good overall condition with no visible chips, cracks, or signs of restoration. There is minor surface dirt and light shelf wear to the unglazed soles of the feet.
