Lot 657: Three Arts and Crafts style carved wooden items including a lantern and a relief panel
A trio of carved wooden items in the Arts and Crafts style. The group includes a lantern constructed from dark wood with a textured hammered effect to the pyramidal top and wavy-profiled corner supports. The lantern features glass panels set behind leaded glazing bars, with some glass panes showing etched decorative scrollwork. It is currently fitted with a cut electrical cable. The lot also contains a rectangular wooden panel, hand-carved in high relief with a central depiction of stylized tulips within an oval border on a stippled ground, with fanned motifs at the corners. Completing the group is a rectangular open box with a dark-stained exterior and a natural wood interior. No maker’s marks or signatures are visible on any of the pieces.
Condition report:
The lantern is fitted with a cut electrical cable which requires professional inspection and rewiring before use. The rectangular box shows visible surface scuffs and wear consistent with age. The carved panel and lantern show minor surface marks and wear consistent with age and use.
