The auction will start in __ days and __ hours

Start price: £15

Estimated price: £30

Buyer's Premium:

A late Victorian or early Edwardian platform rocking armchair constructed from a dark-stained hardwood. The frame features bobbin-turned spindles on the arm supports and a horizontal back rail. The chair is upholstered in a moss-green corded velvet, featuring a padded seat, a high backrest with a separate headrest section, and cylindrical padded armrests finished with decorative gimp trim. The seat is secured with brass-headed upholstery tacks. The chair is mounted on a stationary wooden platform base with a spring-loaded rocking mechanism. A modern adhesive label for Liskeard Auction Rooms is present on the armrest. No original maker marks or stamps are visible on the frame or upholstery.

Condition report:

The chair is in well-used condition. There is visible wear and scuffing to the wood finish, particularly on the arm terminals and base frame. The upholstery shows signs of age-related fading and wear, especially to the arm pads. The decorative trim on the left armrest is partially detached. The rocking mechanism appears intact, though its mechanical function has not been tested.
