Lot 894: A Collection of Tremar Pottery Stoneware Tableware
A collection of Cornish studio pottery attributed to Tremar Pottery, Liskeard. The stoneware set comprises a variety of tableware including a tall coffee pot with a loop handle and spout, a group of cylindrical beakers presented on a matching circular ribbed tray, several handled and handleless cups, a pair of saucers, a small bowl with an internal spiral motif, a handled pipkin bowl, and a larger open bowl with a dark speckled metallic-effect glaze. The pieces are primarily decorated with hand-incised vertical linear ribbing. The glaze is a combination of mottled dark brown, ochre, and sandy-green tones, creating a textured appearance typical of the mid-20th-century studio pottery movement. The interior of the beakers is finished in a contrasting pale off-white glaze. One piece bears a paper auction lot label for Liskeard Auction Rooms.
Beakers: 10 cm – 12 cm height approx.
Condition report:
The collection is in generally good condition. There is a small area of surface wear or a minor glaze skip visible on the body of one of the beakers on the circular tray. Some light surface wear and kiln-stacking marks consistent with age and the handmade nature of the items are present.
