Lot 975: Two pieces of white painted furniture comprising a folding side chair and a stool
A lot comprising two pieces of modern utility furniture finished in white paint. The first item is a folding side chair, likely constructed from beech or birch, featuring a curved wide top rail and a folding mechanism with metal bolt fixings. This chair is fitted with a removable, tie-on padded seat cushion featuring a printed pattern of multi-coloured beach huts on a pale blue-green ground. A small manufacturer’s tag is present on the cushion featuring a house-shaped logo. The second item is a stool designed in the style of Alvar Aalto’s E60, featuring a circular seat top supported by four L-shaped bentwood legs. Each leg is attached to the underside of the seat with two recessed screws. The chair frame bears a white auction sticker printed with Lot 975 and Liskeard Auction Rooms.
Condition report:
The folding chair exhibits signs of frequent use, including various surface scuffs, small chips to the white paint finish, and ingrained dirt, most notably on the backrest. The stool remains in generally fair condition, showing minor surface marks and light wear consistent with domestic use.
