Lot 488: An Assortment of Decorative Ceramics and Glassware Including a Polish Pottery Style Teapot and a Japanese Satsuma Style Vase
A collection of decorative ceramics and glassware. The lot features a rounded ceramic teapot with a cobalt blue glaze and white daisy floral motifs in the style of Polish Boleslawiec pottery, complete with a high arching handle and separate lid. Included is a small hexagonal earthenware vase decorated in the Japanese Satsuma style, with hand-painted panels of bamboo and floral designs on a cream-coloured crackle-glaze ground, bordered by dark panels with multi-coloured floral patterns and raised moriage gilt details. The collection further contains a small porcelain dish with an iridescent lustre glaze and scalloped rim, hand-painted with green shamrocks and bearing the inscription A present from… with an indistinct location name. A two-tone stoneware jug is finished with a cobalt blue and cream dip-glaze, and a deep circular earthenware bowl features a blue glaze. Glassware includes a pair of stemmed wine glasses with wide gilt bands at the rims decorated with foliate scroll patterns, and a single glass with a cut geometric design. The teapot bears a lot sticker for Liskeard Auction Rooms, identifying it as Lot 488.
