Lot 604: A Collection of 13 Antique Aqua Glass Codd Patent Mineral Water Bottles for The Devonport Mineral Water Co and W. Dubbin
This lot consists of thirteen antique aqua-coloured glass mineral water bottles, dating from the late 19th to early 20th century. Each vessel is constructed using a mould-blown technique with a Codd-neck patent, featuring the characteristic pinched neck designed to hold an internal glass marble closure. The collection includes multiple bottles embossed with The Devonport Mineral Water Co. markings. Other specimens feature the embossed attribution for W. Dubbin, Devonport, which includes a shield-shaped trade mark logo containing the words Merit Prize. These items originate from Devonport, a historic naval town in Plymouth, Devon. The bottles exhibit typical tooled finishes and some retain their original internal marbles and orange-coloured rubber gaskets.
