Lot 625: An Assortment of Decorative Objects and Collectibles
This collection of decorative items includes a variety of materials and artistic styles. A large rectangular black lacquered box features oriental scenes in mother-of-pearl or abalone shell inlay. A smaller wooden box is decorated with geometric marquetry in the Tunbridge ware style. Natural history is represented by a circular taxidermy display containing multiple butterfly specimens, including a central blue Morpho butterfly, mounted under glass with a metallic rim. Metalware consists of a black-painted metal cash box with internal compartments and a bottle opener with a turned handle. Glassware includes a small clear pressed glass dish with a scalloped rim. Ceramic items comprise a light-coloured earthenware vessel with pierced floral decoration, a circular hand-painted plate with polychrome geometric patterns and a gold-coloured rim, and a terracotta block featuring two heart-shaped depressions with a blue reactive glaze.
