Lot 653: A Collection of Keele Street Pottery Cottage Ware and Assorted Decorative Ceramics
This collection features various mid-20th-century glazed earthenware items, with a focus on Keele Street Pottery Cottage Ware. These pieces are relief-moulded and hand-painted to represent traditional thatched cottages. Included in the group are a teapot with a rustic branch-style handle and spout, a biscuit barrel with a woven wicker handle, a lidded sugar bowl, and a cream jug. One smaller lidded pot is inscribed with the text PIXIE COTTAGE. The base of a larger item displays the circular green printed mark of the Keele St. Pottery Co. Ltd, Staffordshire, England, alongside an incised KSP mark and a hand-painted numeral 2.
The group also contains a miniature lidded ceramic house decorated with blue walls and a red-tiled roof, marked MADE IN JAPAN with a central flower or sunburst motif. Additionally, there is an earthenware honey pot shaped as a traditional skep beehive with a bee finial on the lid and a white ceramic spoon. A utilitarian lidded pot with a dark brown glaze and beaded rim decoration is also part of the assortment.
