Lot 856: Four Victorian Occasional Chairs and a Stool
A mixed collection of furniture comprising four late Victorian occasional chairs and one circular stool. The group includes a matching pair of side chairs upholstered in red velour fabric with decorative braid trim, featuring simple curved top rails and turned front legs. One occasional chair features a woven cane seat with a spindle back and decorative bobbin-turned front legs and cross-stretcher. Another chair is designed with a wooden seat featuring a decorative circular pierced pattern and a curved back rail. The stool is of simple utilitarian form with a circular wooden top supported on four turned legs joined by stretchers. The chairs are constructed from various hardwoods with a dark stained finish, while the stool is made from a lighter-toned timber. Traditional mortise and tenon joinery is used throughout the construction of the frames.
