Lot 855: A Two-Part Plaster Slip-Casting Mold for a Single-Handled Vessel
A two-part plaster slip-casting mold designed for the production of a hollow-ware vessel, likely a jug or flagon. The mold features a main body with a tapered neck, a single loop handle, and an additional cylindrical aperture near the shoulder which served as the pouring gate for ceramic slip during the manufacturing process. The two halves are designed to fit together using four integrated blue plastic alignment pins and corresponding sockets. There are no original maker’s marks or factory stamps impressed into the plaster. The items bear adhesive auction labels from Liskeard Auction Rooms for Lot 845, with one label also featuring the handwritten characters 9492 in black ink.
