Lot 978: An early 20th-century Jacobethan revival oak sewing table
An early 20th-century oak sewing or work table constructed in the Jacobethan revival style. The rectangular box-form top features twin hinged lids that open outward from the centre, finished with a small-beaded moulding to the edges. The interior is lined with a magenta-coloured moiré fabric and contains a removable shallow wooden tray set over a deep main compartment. The undersides of each lid are fitted with fabric straps designed for holding tools. The piece is raised on four barley-twist legs joined by a rectangular stretcher. The oak is finished with a dark stain. No maker marks are visible. A modern white printed auction sticker for Liskeard Auction Rooms marked Lot 978 and a handwritten label numbered 754 are present on the exterior.
