Lot 980: A Collection of Ceramics and Metalware including Maddock Indian Tree Pattern Tableware and a Commemorative Cricket Plate
This lot comprises a varied collection of ceramics and metalware. The group includes multiple pieces of Maddock vitreous earthenware tableware in the Indian Tree pattern, featuring transfer-printed central flowering tree motifs in pink, green, and blue within geometric fret-pattern borders. These items bear the printed mark of a lion rampant above a ribbon inscribed Maddock, with England Vitreous and the pattern name Indian Tree below. Also included is a large porcelain plate commemorating the Centenary of Test Cricket at Old Trafford (1884-1984), decorated with blue and white portraits of notable cricketers, match statistics, and a central polychrome red rose. This plate is accompanied by a descriptive pamphlet. The collection further contains a lidded souvenir pot inscribed A Present from Liskeard, a partial tea service of white glazed porcelain with scalloped edges and transfer-printed pink rose sprays, and a cylindrical earthenware vase with a modernist two-tone glaze in reddish-brown and white featuring abstract brown slip-trailed line work.
