Lot 375: A Gallenkamp Cased Precision Analytical Beam Balance and Assorted Weights
A laboratory-grade analytical beam balance by Gallenkamp, manufactured in England. The instrument is housed within a glazed mahogany case featuring a sliding front panel fitted with a black circular control knob. A small circular white label on the wooden frame identifies the case maker as Gent of Leicester. The internal mechanism comprises a central brass pillar supporting a dark-finished metal beam and two suspended circular brass pans. A graduated white scale and a vertical indicator needle are positioned at the base of the pillar, with the plate marked Gallenkamp Made in England. The lot is accompanied by a separate, small mahogany weight box with a purple velvet-lined interior. This box contains an assortment of circular brass weights and flat, square metal foil fractional weights, some of which are stamped with numerical values and DWT for pennyweights.
