Lot 494: A Pair of Chinoiserie Hexagonal Porcelain Table Lamps
A pair of hexagonal porcelain table lamps, decorated in the Chinoiserie style with polychrome enamels. Each ceramic body features panels depicting birds perched on blossoming branches alongside large peony flowers and butterflies, set against an off-white ground. The decoration includes borders of red Greek key patterns and dark blue geometric lattices with gilded highlights. Each lamp is mounted on a stepped, dark wood base with matching wooden top caps and brass-coloured light fittings. They are wired for UK electrical standards with white three-pin plugs and inline switches. No maker’s marks are visible as the porcelain is permanently fixed to the wooden mounts. Paper tags from Liskeard Auction Rooms are attached, including one with handwritten text China Lamp 2 of 2 and the number 4832.
