A single bentwood rocking chair in the style of Michael Thonet, featuring elaborate steam-bent beechwood scrollwork that forms the rockers and sweeping arms. The frame is finished with a dark mahogany-coloured stain. Both the shaped seat and the tall oval backrest are inset with machine-woven cane webbing, which is secured within grooves by a spline. The chair is constructed using traditional bolt-and-screw joinery. The piece carries a modern auction lot label from Liskeard Auction Rooms for lot number 679.
