A mid-century modern wooden bed tray or portable drawing desk, constructed from a light-toned hardwood, likely beech. The piece features a rectangular frame with integral carved handles at each end, housing an inset white laminate or melamine writing surface. It is supported by four fixed, tapered legs that are angled outwards and joined by a single cross-stretcher at each end. The design is characteristic of mid-20th-century utility furniture and resembles professional field book frames used for topographical surveying and field sketches. There are no manufacturer’s marks present; a modern lot sticker for Liskeard Auction Rooms is adhered to the frame.
