Lot 782: A Victorian Style White Painted Pine Towel Rail and a Turned Wood Hat Stand
This lot consists of two domestic wooden items. The first is a traditional floor-standing towel rail, constructed from pine and finished in an off-white paint. The rail features three horizontal rungs supported by two uprights with turned spindle detailing, terminating in twin shaped feet. The second item is a turned wood stand, likely mahogany or a similar stained hardwood, of a form characteristic of a Victorian or Edwardian hat or wig stand. It comprises a circular dished top with a raised rim, a slender turned stem with a central knop, and a broad circular base. The stand bears a paper auction label from Liskeard Auction Rooms, Cornwall, identifying it as Lot 782. No other maker’s marks, stamps, or labels are visible on either piece.
