Lot 719: A Pair of Dutch Colonial Style Stained Hardwood Armchairs
A pair of substantial 20th-century lounge armchairs in the Dutch Colonial revival style. The frames are constructed from a dark-stained hardwood with a high-gloss finish. The design features wide, heavily fluted arms supported by turned baluster spindles, resting on solid bases with shaped and scalloped aprons. The chairs terminate in large, carved scrolling feet. Each chair is fitted with loose seat and back cushions upholstered in a textured cream-coloured fabric featuring an all-over repeating gold-toned leaf motif. No maker’s marks are visible. The items are identified as Lot 719 from Liskeard Auction Rooms.
