Lot 543: A Trio of Victorian Silver-Mounted Cut Glass Dressing Table Items
A collection of three Victorian silver-mounted cut glass dressing table items, consisting of two scent bottles and one cosmetic jar. The first item is a small square-section scent bottle featuring a deeply cut hobnail and diamond pattern with a star-cut base. The silver collar and cap bear Birmingham hallmarks for 1890, with the maker’s mark L & S for Levi & Salaman. The second item is a cylindrical cosmetic jar with vertical fluted panel cutting to the glass body. The silver screw cap features engine-turned decoration and a central circular cartouche; the interior is hallmarked for London, mid-Victorian period, including a sovereign’s head duty mark and the maker’s mark S M. The third item is a rectangular-section scent bottle with fine diamond and star cutting. The silver mounts are hallmarked for Birmingham with the maker’s mark S & Co, likely for Sydney & Co, dating from the late 19th or early 20th century. The glass is clear lead crystal with sharp, well-defined facets.
