Lot 542: A Silver, Turquoise and Coral Jewellery Suite in the Southwestern Style
A two-piece jewellery suite comprising an open-ended cuff bracelet and a matching ring, designed in the Southwestern Native American style. The cuff bracelet features a large, centrally set free-form turquoise cabochon with a visible brown matrix, flanked by two pieces of polished red coral. The turquoise is secured within a sawtooth bezel, while the coral pieces are held in smooth silver-toned bezels. The wide metal cuff is decorated with applied twisted-wire borders and a cluster of silver beads arranged in a floral motif. The matching ring features a smaller turquoise stone and a red coral cabochon, surrounded by a granulated wire border and set upon a split-shank band. No hallmarks or maker’s marks were detected during inspection, and the silver content remains untested. The construction and aesthetic are characteristic of mid-to-late 20th-century Navajo or Zuni silverwork.
