Lot 692: A Collection of Villeroy and Boch Design Naif Pattern Vitro-Porcelain Tableware
This collection of Villeroy and Boch tableware is in the Design Naif pattern, featuring various scenes of rural village life and domestic interiors in a naive folk-art style designed by the French artist Gerard Laplau. The set is manufactured from vitro-porcelain and includes a selection of dinner plates, wide-rimmed soup or pasta bowls, twin-handled bouillon cups with matching saucers, and a group of mugs housed in a metal wire storage rack. Each piece is decorated with transfer-printed illustrations and finished with a narrow brown line border to the rim. One plate features the printed signature LAPLAU 5 within the design. The bases carry various Villeroy and Boch backstamps, including the Luxembourg manufacture mark, the pattern name Design Naif, and references to the House and Garden Collection.
