Lot 694: A Two-Piece Victorian Style Repoussé White Metal and Ebonised Dressing Table Set
This lot comprises a hand-held hairbrush and a cylindrical container, likely a hair receiver or match striker. Both items feature ornate repoussé metalwork in a Rococo Revival style, characterised by scrolling foliage, floral motifs, and C-scrolls. The hairbrush features a shaped, blank central cartouche on the reverse and a fully decorated handle. The cylindrical pot is constructed from a dark material, likely ebony or ebonised wood, and features a central aperture in the top. A matching curved metal plaque is secured to the lid of the pot with small pins. No hallmarks, maker’s marks, or inscriptions are visible on either piece.
