Lot 825: Late Victorian Carved Hardwood and Needlepoint Footstool
A late Victorian or Edwardian carved hardwood footstool of low, domed form. The stool features a needlepoint upholstered top decorated with a central Chinoiserie-style scene, depicting a bird and landscape elements in a palette of blue, green, and terracotta. This central panel is framed by a border of S-scrolls and geometric motifs. The cushion is finished with a decorative corded trim and plain blue fabric side panels. The stool is supported by a dark hardwood frame featuring an apron carved with a central flower head and flanking acanthus leaves, terminating in short, scrolling bracket-style feet. A white rectangular paper sticker for Liskeard Auction Rooms, Lot 825, is adhered to the top upholstery.
