Lot 915: A late 19th century Louis XV style carved mahogany double bed frame
A French-influenced mahogany bed frame comprising a headboard, footboard, and matching side rails. The headboard features an arched and serpentine-moulded top rail, surmounted by a prominent centrally carved cresting depicting a shell motif amongst scrolling acanthus leaves and floral blossoms. The footboard follows a conforming lower-profile silhouette with scroll-carved details. The two serpentine-shaped side rails are decorated with centrally carved cartouches featuring floral and scrollwork designs that correspond with the headboard ornamentation. The frame is finished in a rich, dark-toned polish and is designed to accommodate a standard UK double mattress.
