Lot 916: A pair of French Louis XV style walnut and breccia marble-topped bedside pot cupboards
A pair of French Louis XV style bedside pot cupboards dating from the late 19th or early 20th century. Each unit is constructed from walnut and features an inset breccia marble top of serpentine form with a moulded wooden border. The marble displays a multi-coloured aggregate of pink, cream, and ochre tones. The carcasses are decorated with relief-carved scrolled mouldings to the drawer fronts and cupboard door panels. Each cupboard contains a single frieze drawer above a cupboard door, both fitted with small turned wooden knobs. The interior of the cupboards is marble-lined. The units are supported by four slender cabriole legs terminating in scroll feet, featuring a carved shell motif to the centre of the front apron. Labels from Liskeard Auction Rooms are present on one top.
