Lot 923: Early 20th Century Oak Gateleg Drop-Leaf Table
An early 20th-century oak gateleg drop-leaf table, circa 1920s-1940s, showing simplified Arts and Crafts influences. Constructed from oak with a dark-stained finish, the table features a narrow rectangular central section and two deep drop-leaves with rounded corners. The gateleg base allows the outer legs to swing out and support the leaves when in use. The fixed frame is composed of two end supports with decorative vertical cut-out panels, joined by a single low-set stretcher. The legs are of square section and taper slightly towards the feet. There are no visible maker’s marks or stamps; an inventory label numbered 700 is fixed to the top.
Dimensions: Small dining or tea table height. Small footprint when folded, expanding significantly when leaves are raised.
