Lot 316: A Cartwright & Butler Branded Wooden Storage Crate
A contemporary wooden storage crate or gift hamper box produced for the food brand Cartwright & Butler. The rectangular vessel is constructed from light-toned wood with visible natural grain and knots throughout. The exterior is stencilled in dark pigment with CARTWRIGHT & BUTLER in an arched arrangement, accompanied by YORKSHIRE ENGLAND and EST. 1981. Each end is fitted with a natural fibre rope handle and marked with a large C & B monogram. The box is accompanied by a loose-fitting lid featuring two wooden cross-battens. A contemporary paper auction label numbered 316 is affixed to the front panel.
Condition report:
The item shows signs of light surface wear and natural discolouration to the timber consistent with use. Minor abrasions and natural variations in the wood grain are present. The rope handles remain intact and the lid is functional.
