Lot 420: A Trio of Decorative Metalwares comprising a Copper Pitcher, a Brass Column Lamp Base, and an Indo-Persian Style Engraved Bowl
A collection of three decorative metalware items. The first is a large copper pitcher of bulbous form, featuring a waisted neck with a flared rim and a wide strap handle. The vessel is of wrought and hammered construction with visible soldered seams. The second item is a cast brass table lamp base in the Neoclassical style, designed as a fluted Corinthian-style column with a foliate capital, set upon a stepped square plinth. It is fitted with a standard bayonet-type bulb holder. The third item is a deep circular bowl in the Indo-Persian style, featuring a scalloped rim. The exterior is decorated with dense, finely chased and engraved foliate scrollwork, incorporating stylised human figures and birds. The material is likely tinned copper or a white metal alloy. No maker’s marks are visible on any of the items.
Condition report:
The copper pitcher shows an aged patina with significant denting to the lower body and prominent green verdigris oxidation around the horizontal joint and handle base. The brass lamp base displays a consistent aged gold-toned patina with minor surface wear and oxidation; the wiring is dated and must be professionally tested before use. The engraved bowl shows heavy dark tarnish and oxidation to the exterior, with the original silvery finish mostly worn away; the interior exhibits substantial oxidation and crusting.
