Lot 508: A Collection of Militaria, Horology, and Collectible Sundries including H. Samuel Pocket Watch and DCLI Cap Badge
This lot comprises an assortment of militaria, horology, and decorative items. Featured is a white metal cap badge for the Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry, displaying a crown over a bugle horn with the inscription CORNWALL. Horological items include an open-face, silver-toned pocket watch with the dial marked H. SAMUEL MANCHESTER, featuring Roman numerals and a sub-seconds dial, alongside a gold-toned wristwatch on a black leather strap. The collection includes two circular enamel badges for The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) bearing the National Safety First Association (NSFA) logo, and a silver-toned medal on a blue and white striped ribbon. Among the other collectibles are an Esso petrol pin, a Hornby Collector pin, a flower basket brooch, a petit point floral brooch, and a brooch in the form of a ram. Additional pieces include several gold-toned pendants, one featuring Arabic script and another with an equestrian figure, and a small floral-decorated porcelain saucer.
Condition report:
Items show varied signs of age and wear consistent with their period. The pocket watch dial exhibits significant yellowing and patina. The military cap badge and other metal items show surface tarnishing and minor abrasions. Enamel on badges appears largely intact with occasional surface scratches. The wristwatch strap shows light use. Mechanical functionality of timepieces is untested.
