Lot 577: Mid-20th-century hand-painted earthenware lidded jar with floral decoration
A mid-20th-century earthenware lidded jar of oviform shape. The vessel features two small lug handles positioned at the shoulder and is topped with a matching domed lid featuring a central pointed finial. The exterior is decorated with hand-painted stylized blue flowers with red-purple centres, set against a mottled yellow and green sponged ground. The style and palette are characteristic of mid-century British art pottery. No manufacturer’s marks or backstamps are visible on the exterior of the piece. The jar bears a white paper auction label for Liskeard Auction Rooms, Lot 577.
