Lot 578: Bell's Scotch Whisky Wade Porcelain Commemorative Decanter for the Birth of Princess Beatrice, 1988
A Bell’s Scotch Whisky commemorative porcelain decanter, manufactured by Wade Porcelain for Arthur Bell & Sons plc. The decanter is modelled in the shape of a bell and constructed from white porcelain with transfer-printed and gilded decoration. The front features a central royal crest and a blue ribbon inscribed PRINCESS BEATRICE, flanked by the gold-toned text TO COMMEMORATE THE BIRTH OF and 8TH AUGUST 1988. The body is detailed with concentric red and blue bands and is fitted with a gold-finished porcelain stopper. The underside of the base bears printed marks in blue and red reading: GENUINE WADE PORCELAIN, COMMEMORATIVE PORCELAIN DECANTER FROM Arthur Bell & Sons plc, 75cl 43% vol, PERTH SCOTLAND PRODUCT OF SCOTLAND. An auction house label for Liskeard Auction Rooms is adhered to the shoulder.
