Lot 579: A Bell's Scotch Whisky Wade Porcelain Decanter Commemorating the 60th Birthday of Queen Elizabeth II
A commemorative porcelain whisky decanter manufactured by Wade Ceramics for Arthur Bell and Sons, Perth. The decanter was produced to celebrate the 60th birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in April 1986. The bell-form vessel features a white glazed body decorated with a central transfer-printed portrait of Queen Elizabeth II within a blue and gold scrolling foliate cartouche. The surrounding text reads IN HONOUR OF HER MAJESTY QUEEN ELIZABETH II TO COMMEMORATE THE 60TH BIRTHDAY 21ST APRIL 1986. The body is accented with gilded concentric rings and a wide gilded band to the foot. The neck is also gilded and features the name BELLS in relief. The underside of the base bears printed marks in black including the Wade factory name and the text COMMEMORATIVE PORCELAIN DECANTER FROM BELLS SCOTCH WHISKY PERTH SCOTLAND PRODUCT OF SCOTLAND.
