Lot 783: Marconiphone Model T69DA Bakelite Valve Radio
A mid-century table valve radio manufactured by Marconiphone, model T69DA, circa 1958. The unit is housed in a deep maroon Bakelite cabinet with a high-gloss finish, complemented by a cream-coloured louvred plastic front grille. The grille features a raised, stylised script logo reading Marconi. Positioned below the grille is a horizontal slide-rule tuning dial protected by glass, which lists various European station names and frequency bands for Long Wave (LW), Medium Wave (MW), and VHF (FM). Four matching maroon Bakelite control knobs are located beneath the dial. The reverse of the radio is enclosed by a brown fibreboard backplate featuring vertical ventilation slats and printed manufacturer details including MARCONIPHONE, LONDON, ENGLAND and the G Marconi signature logo. The backplate includes technical specifications such as MODEL T69DA, serial number 10702, and AC/DC MAINS. It also provides sockets for an EXT L.S. (external loudspeaker) and an FM AERIAL. The radio is fitted with a brown flex power cord and a modern three-pin UK plug.
