Lot 784: An HB Quimper Faience Miniature Barrel and Cup Set on a Wooden Stand
A French HB Quimper faience miniature barrel and cup set, dating from the mid-20th century. The set comprises a horizontal barrel-shaped vessel made of tin-glazed earthenware, featuring hand-painted floral and foliate motifs in shades of red, green, and blue, framed by blue sponged bands. The barrel is fitted with a removable wooden bung and a wooden spigot. It rests on a shaped dark wood stand equipped with four hooks, from which hang a set of matching miniature cups. Each single-handled cup is decorated with coordinating hand-painted floral sprays and blue sponged rims. The underside of the barrel is hand-painted with the marks HB QUIMPER, CR, and the number 1088. The bases of the cups bear marks including QUIMPER above CH, and CR above H, identifying the set as authentic pottery from the Hubaudière-Bousquet factory in Brittany, France.
