Lot 448: A Pair of Cast Iron and Brass Ball Finial Fire Dogs
A pair of fire dogs, also known as andirons, constructed from cast iron with spherical brass finials. Each fire dog features a black-finished cast iron frame with a scrolled front foot and a horizontal log support bar. The upright sections terminate in large, polished yellow-metal spheres. This style of fireplace furniture was common in British domestic interiors during the late Victorian and Edwardian periods. Both items bear modern auction labels from HCP Auctions South West and handwritten inventory tags marked 1080.
