Lot 827: Large Jacobean Revival Glazed Oak Two Door Bookcase
A large two-door glazed bookcase of dark-stained oak construction, designed in the Jacobean Revival style and resembling pieces by makers such as Old Charm or Jaycee. The two full-length doors are fitted with leaded glass panels in a rectangular grid to the upper two-thirds, while the lower third features raised geometric panels in a stylised hourglass configuration. The piece is topped with a moulded cornice and flanked by stiles decorated with turned, faceted bulbous drop finials at the upper and lower corners. The cabinet stands on compressed bun feet. The interior contains three wooden shelves and is finished with a vertical tongue-and-groove planked back. The central locking mechanism is finished with a decorative brass escutcheon. A contemporary white adhesive label with the number 537 is present on the upper left-hand side of the frame.
