Lot 828: Edwardian Inlaid Mahogany Music Cabinet in the Sheraton Revival Style
An Edwardian mahogany music cabinet of single-piece construction, dating to the early 20th century and designed in the Sheraton Revival style. The cabinet features a single door configured with both glazed and decorative solid panels. The right side of the door contains a large rectangular glass pane, while the left side is divided into three sections: two small mirror-backed panels flanking a central mahogany panel. This central panel is ornamented with a marquetry inlay of a classical urn, and the entire door is highlighted with fine boxwood stringing. The cabinet stands on shaped bracket feet and includes a brass escutcheon with an associated lock. The interior is fitted with several vertical wooden partitions specifically designed for the organised storage of sheet music. A contemporary handwritten retail tag is attached to the lower-left mirror panel.
