Lot 163: A Trio of Art Deco Silver-Plated and Cobalt Blue Glass Condiment Pieces Including a 1924 British Empire Exhibition Commemorative Pepper Shaker
A trio of silver-plated table condiment pieces, comprising a mustard pot, a salt cellar, and a commemorative pepper shaker, each complete with a removable cobalt blue glass liner.
The mustard pot features a hinged dome lid with a ball finial, a shell-form thumbpiece, and a scroll handle. The circular salt cellar has a reticulated frame raised on three ball feet. The pepper shaker is of cylindrical form with a domed top containing a single shaking hole, featuring geometric pierced slots to the body. It is applied to the front with a circular enamel souvenir badge for the British Empire Exhibition 1924 Wembley, displaying a stylised black lion on an orange background within a blue enamel border.
Markings:
The base of the pepper shaker is stamped EPNS on the upper curve and MADE IN ENGLAND on the lower curve surrounding the central aperture.
The base of the salt cellar is stamped with four individual Gothic-style character punches reading E, P, N, and S.
