Lot 164: A George V Sterling Silver Specimen Vase by William Comyns and Sons London 1914
A George V sterling silver specimen vase of trumpet-shaped form. The body features a flared, wavy frilled rim, tapering downwards to a bulbous lower section and standing on a short, stepped, circular spreading foot. The foot is weighted for stability. The lower section of the vase neck is struck with four hallmarks: the maker mark W.C in a pinched oval cartouche for William Comyns and Sons, the lion passant mark indicating sterling silver, the leopard head mark indicating the London Assay Office, and the lowercase letter t in a three-lobed shield indicating the year 1914.
