Lot 18: A Trio of British Silver-Plated Footed Salvers including Examples by William Hutton and Sons and Barker Brothers Ltd
This lot consists of three English silver-plated footed trays of varying styles.
The first item is a circular footed salver by William Hutton and Sons of Sheffield. It features a Rococo revival style scalloped rim decorated with a shell and scroll border, raised on four scrolled feet. The underside is stamped with four separate marks in shields containing the characters W, H, and S, followed by three pseudo-hallmark shields containing B, P, and S. The words HARD SOLDERED are stamped in capital letters below.
The remaining two items form a pair of circular trays by Barker Brothers Ltd of Birmingham. These trays are designed in the Neoclassical style with a simple beaded rim and are each raised on three small feet. The underside of each tray is stamped with the maker’s name BARKER in an arc, a small circular device, the pattern number Y3337, and the inscription MADE IN ENGLAND.
