Lot 21: A Collection of Silver, Decorative Metal and Carved Organic Spoons and Scoops
An assortment of decorative spoons and scoops comprising examples in silver, white metal, yellow metal, and carved organic material such as bone or horn. The collection features souvenir and commemorative items, notably a white metal spoon with a circular bowl and a blue enamelled shield finial inscribed LAND’S END, and a commemorative spoon with a large bowl embossed with an interior tavern scene featuring figures and an enamelled heart-shaped crest inscribed THE SUE RYDER FOUNDATION. Other metal items include a silver caddy spoon with a shell-moulded bowl and a cast animal finial, a small spoon with a circular bowl cast with a mythological or classical scene and a stylized claw handle, a slender white metal spoon with a textured diamond-patterned handle, and a simple salt or mustard spoon. The carved organic spoons include examples with a thistle-form finial, a flared fishtail handle, and a trefoil handle.
