Buyer's Premium:

A pair of late nineteenth or early twentieth-century ceramic handles, likely originally from a vanity or grooming set such as for brushes or mirrors. The handles are of a tapering form with bulbous ends, featuring a shaded ground that graduates from a warm apricot-yellow at the neck to a cream colour at the base. They are decorated with floral sprays; one depicts a pink rose and purple violets, while the other shows yellow and white blossoms. The decoration is transfer-printed with hand-painted highlights. The handles are fitted with silver ferrules at the narrow ends. The metal collars are stamped with the words STERLING SILVER and a maker mark H & S contained within a double-lozenge-shaped cartouche. The shaded peachblow style ceramic body is characteristic of English factories such as Royal Worcester or Doulton Burslem from the late nineteenth century, although no factory marks are visible on the ceramic components.
