Lot 72: A Set of Six Sterling Silver Golf Club Novelty Spoons by Charles Usher
A set of six silver coffee spoons designed in a novelty golf club pattern. Each handle is realistically modelled in the form of a golf club, with the stems featuring a spiral-wound texture near the bowl intended to emulate the traditional leather-wrapped grips of early 20th-century clubs. The reverse of each bowl is stamped with a full set of English hallmarks including the maker mark CU for Charles Usher, the anchor symbol for the Birmingham Assay Office, the lion passant indicating sterling silver, and the date letter u for 1919.
